僕がNAVAL WATCHの時計に惹かれる理由は、とてもシンプルです。
ダイバーズやミリタリーウォッチに通じる男らしさがありながら、日常の服装にも自然に馴染むファッショナブルな佇まいを持っていること。

そしてBarkoutsidersでセレクトするにあたり、コレクションは「機械式自動巻きのみ」と決めました。

道具としての合理性、構造の美しさ、使い続けることで生まれる表情。
それらをきちんと味わえるのは、やはり機械式だと考えたからです。

この FRXD005 は、その中でも特に印象的な1本でした。

ヴィンテージGMTを現代的に再構築したデザイン

FRXD005は、人気のFRXAモデルをベースに
GMT機構を追加した本格的なGMTウォッチです。

最大の特徴は、
ベゼル・文字盤・GMT針によるコンビネーションカラー。
ヴィンテージのGMTモデルをモチーフにしながら、
色の組み合わせを再構築することで、
どこか懐かしく、それでいて新鮮な表情に仕上がっています。

ケースサイズは 40.8mm。
回転ベゼルを持つモデルとしては大きすぎず、
腕に乗せたときのバランスがとても良いサイズ感です。

GMT針と24時間表示の逆回転防止ベゼルにより、
同時に3つの時間帯を把握できる実用的な仕様。
旅行や仕事はもちろん、
「GMTウォッチを使いこなす楽しさ」をきちんと味わえる構成です。

アクリル風防が生む、アンティークな空気感

風防には、あえてアクリルガラスを採用。
当時の雰囲気を忠実に再現するため、
ボックス形状と日付窓の魚眼レンズを組み合わせています。

現代的なサファイアガラスにはない、
わずかな歪みや光の反射が、
この時計にヴィンテージらしい奥行きを与えています。

防水性能は日常使いに十分な 5気圧防水。
気負わず、毎日の相棒として使ってほしい1本です。

ムーブメントには、
TMI製 Cal.NH34 GMT 自動巻きムーブメントを搭載。
手巻き機構付きの自動巻きで、

The reason I’m drawn to NAVAL WATCH timepieces is very simple.
They carry a rugged masculinity rooted in diver’s and military watches, yet they also have a refined, fashionable presence that blends naturally into everyday style.

When selecting watches for Barkoutsiders, I set one clear rule:
only mechanical automatic watches.

The rationality of a tool, the beauty of its structure, and the character that emerges through long-term use—
these are things you can truly appreciate only with a mechanical watch.

Among them all, the FRXD005 left a particularly strong impression.

A modern reinterpretation of a vintage GMT

The FRXD005 is a full-fledged GMT watch, based on the popular FRXA model and equipped with a GMT function.

Its most distinctive feature is the combination of colors used across the bezel, dial, and GMT hand.
Inspired by vintage GMT models, the color scheme has been carefully reworked, resulting in a look that feels nostalgic yet refreshingly modern.

The case size is 40.8mm.
For a rotating-bezel model, it’s not oversized, offering excellent balance and comfort on the wrist.

Thanks to the GMT hand and the 24-hour bidirectional bezel, you can track up to three time zones simultaneously.
It’s practical for travel and work, while also delivering the genuine pleasure of using a GMT watch as it was intended.

An antique atmosphere created by an acrylic crystal

The crystal is intentionally made of acrylic, chosen to faithfully recreate the atmosphere of vintage watches.
It features a box-shaped profile combined with a cyclops lens over the date window.

Unlike modern sapphire crystal, the subtle distortion and light reflection of acrylic add a distinctive depth and vintage character to the watch.

Water resistance is rated at 5 ATM, more than sufficient for everyday use.
This is a watch meant to be worn casually, as a daily companion.

Inside is the TMI Cal. NH34 GMT automatic movement, made in Japan.
It features both automatic winding and manual winding capability, offering reliability and ease of use.

The watch is assembled in Japan (Made in Japan).
